ALBERT BALDEO: BIOGRAPHY

VISIONARY LEADER, THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION & VOICE!

The Queens Tribune/Press of South East Queens analyzed Albert Baldeo when it endorsed him as a champion of the oppressed since September 2008: “While Baldeo’s abrasive style of bare-knuckle politics may not win him many allies in the political establishment, it’s been effective in voicing the concerns of his community…If’s there’s one person qualified to represent the underdogs, it’s Baldeo.”  http://www.albertbaldeo.com/pdf/BaldeoQTProfile.pdf

He is popularly called the MLK, Al Sharpton of Richmond Hill, and Cheddi Jagan of New York. https://politicsny.com/2022/08/17/2022-meet-the-candidates-albert-baldeo-for-state-senate-district-15/; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYcnZJ2-SsU&t=15s; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG71eo2DOT4&t=3s

Albert holds the distinction of being the youngest and fastest person ever appointed as Senior State Counsel, Police Legal Advisor and Magistrate in the Commonwealth, and is the only person to have won the District Leadership positions in 2 different Assembly Districts, AD 38 (2010), and AD 24 (2022). http://www.kaieteurnewsonline.com/2012/03/17/remarkable-people-albert-baldeo/

A District Leader, President of the Richmond Hill Democratic Club, a Community Advocate, a Delegate to the Judicial Convention, a County Committeeman and a Civil Rights Leader, who shares the same heritage with the iconic trailblazer, Shirley Chisholm, Albert Baldeo has similarly dedicated his life to helping his fellow man. https://www.thewestindianonline.com/unbought-and-unbossed-honoring-shirley-chisholm-a-west-indianamerican-icon/

He is an outstanding community leader and grass roots organizer, frequently referred to as "a breath of fresh air," and “unbought and unbossed,” who has transformed the political landscape, fought for the grassroots, and brought recognition to his marginalized community. https://nyirc.gov/storage/testimony/XRqiFKRMqUfrDrCNANQPGGhP6nzpHQ1yrj2a5wDX.pdf

Albert has won both institutional and widespread respect for his dedication to uplifting working families and communities. In the 2006 State Senate elections, Albert earned the support and trust of the diverse voters in this district, by fighting for changes and exposing the stranglehold special interests, lobbyists and cronyism exert on democracy. After great sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears, his pivotal efforts almost won the seat with 49.5% of the votes cast. https://www.caribbeanlife.com/albert-baldeo-hopes-to-unseat-incumbent/

Baldeo's strong, independent showing against the powerful 20-year incumbent paved the way for Councilman Joe Addabbo to finish Albert's mission of defeating Maltese and taking back the State Senate from dysfunction, a watershed event in our political history. Albert got rave reviews, for being "a very special person who made the gut wrenching decision of putting aside his personal ambitions, and to join forces to fight for the greater good of all." https://www.kaieteurnewsonline.com/2022/07/10/guyana-born-albert-baldeo-elected-district-leader-in-queens-comeback/; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RZ55ecU77Y

Democrats are still indebted to him. http://albertbaldeo.com/news95.htm

Albert has forced machine politicians to be accountable to their constituents, expose cronyism and special interests, and ensure that the needs and concerns of all constituents are met. His efforts have brought greater attention to the unfair political process, and have empowered constituents in areas that need intervention and advocacy. https://www.kaieteurnewsonline.com/2017/09/04/the-caribbean-diaspora-in-ny-can-secure-political-representation/

The resultant impact has enhanced our quality of life and distribution of resources, found solutions for those who needed help, ensured greater participation in our democratic process, and has inspired and changed the lives of many. http://albertbaldeo.com/news119.htm

Albert knows why he is involved in the political struggle. "I am not a professional politician, but a fighter and advocate for our kids, seniors, parents, neighbors and working families, who will do the right thing for my constituents to secure a better quality of life." https://www.stabroeknews.com/2021/07/15/opinion/letters/an-unforgettable-flight-with-captain-grandsoult/
